Chapter 426 Scallion Pancakes Are So Delicious

After leaving the airport, Xu Nian and Xu Xi got into the car they had rented in advance.

Xu Nian took the initiative to sit in the driver's seat, skillfully fastened her seatbelt, started the car, and drove towards home.

Long Teng and his companions had not returned to China for many years and were longing for their families. Xu Xi saw this and gave them a few days off so they could go home and visit their loved ones.

The car drove onto the overpass and sped forward with a whoosh.

Due to the time difference, the plane landed at 5 a.m., and the sky was still dimly lit, with a faint glow on the distant horizon.

There were no other vehicles on the overpass except for the Land Rover they were driving.

Xu Nian simply pressed the accelerator lightly, allowing the car speed to gradually approach the maximum speed limit of the overpass.

He longed to go home; he missed his big bed and wanted to bury his head in Mai Mai's belly and take a deep breath.

Xu Xi leaned back in the passenger seat, yawning incessantly.

The flight was very bumpy, and she barely slept on the plane. Now she's so sleepy she's feeling dizzy.

"Go to sleep if you want, I'll wake you up when we get home," Xu Nian said, rolling up the car window to block out the howling wind.

"No." Xu Xi shook his head, rubbed his eyes, and tried to cheer himself up.

Just then, a soft "gurgling" sound came from her lower abdomen.

Xu Nian has sharp ears and instantly caught the tiny sound: "Are you hungry?"

"Hmm, a little." Xu Xi rubbed his tummy and nodded.

Although the airplane meal was served two hours before landing, she was fast asleep, leaning against Xu Nian's stomach, and missed it.

By calculation, she hadn't eaten for almost ten hours, and her stomach was completely empty.

Xu Nian also felt a bit hungry. Since he started training, his appetite had increased dramatically, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration for him to be able to eat a whole cow in one meal.

Even though he ate Xu Xi's airplane meal along with the food on the plane, it was barely enough to fill his stomach; he wasn't full at all.

So he suggested, "Let's go get some breakfast."

"Okay, sure." Xu Xi nodded in agreement.

Xu Nian slowly turned the steering wheel, driving the car off the overpass and into the city.

At this time, it was not yet fully light, and there were almost no pedestrians on the streets. The usually bustling shops were all closed, and even the restaurants that were open all night had closed their doors. The whole city was still asleep.

But Xu Nian knew of a place where he and Xu Xi could have something hot to eat.

He turned the steering wheel and steered the car onto a wide road.

As the car moved forward, small groups of people gradually appeared on the sidewalks on both sides of the road.

They were all students in school uniforms, carrying heavy backpacks, their faces still showing signs of sleepiness.

Finally, the car stopped in front of a school.

Xu Xi looked up and saw the words "Yuncheng No.1 High School" engraved on the stone tablet at the school gate.

She frowned slightly and turned to look at Xu Nian: "Weren't we going to eat? What are you doing here?"

"Yeah, come eat." Xu Nian chuckled. "Think about it, at this early hour, working people haven't even gotten up yet. Only students go out this early, and only the breakfast stalls near the school gate open this early to sell food."

"Tsk." Xu Xi glanced at the drowsy students around him and shook his head slightly. "It's even worse than going to work."

A luxury car worth seven figures was parked at the school gate, but it didn't attract much attention.

In recent years, with the rapid development of the Sinian Group, Yuncheng's GDP has been rising all the way, gradually becoming one of the richest cities in the country, and the number of wealthy families has been increasing.

In addition, this high school is the best high school in Yuncheng, and there are many students from well-off families. It is no longer surprising to see a few luxury cars at the school gate.

The two put on sunglasses, got out of the car, and walked towards the breakfast stall at the school gate.

The breakfast stall was set up on one side of the school gate. It was a small cart with steaming steamers on it. White steam rose up and carried a rich aroma.

Next to the steamer, there were several folding tables and chairs, which were already full of students eating. Some were drinking porridge with their heads down, while others were quickly munching on pancakes.

Xu Xi found an empty table and sat down, while Xu Nian walked straight to the breakfast stall, stopped, and looked up at the owner behind the stall.

The boss looked somewhat familiar. Xu Nian gently pushed up his sunglasses, looked him over carefully for a moment, and finally recognized him.

More than a decade ago, when he was still delivering food, he would ride his bike to take Xiaoxi to this school every morning. This was the boss who sold breakfast here.

Back then, he was always worried that Xiaoxi would skip breakfast to save money, so he would bring her over early every day, have breakfast with her, and watch her walk into school before he could go out to deliver food with peace of mind.

Over time, he became familiar with the boss.

Unexpectedly, despite the passage of time and the changes in people and things over the years, this stall has never changed owners.

Perhaps it has a lot to do with the fact that the breakfasts he sells are affordable and taste good.

"Good morning, young man, what would you like to eat?" The boss looked up and smiled as he looked Xu Nian up and down. His eyes were full of kindness, but he didn't recognize that this well-dressed and composed man was the same young man who used to come here every morning for breakfast, wearing a delivery uniform.

Xu Nian smiled, not intending to reveal her identity.

Some memories are best kept in your heart; there's no need to deliberately bring them up.

He said softly, "One bowl of congee with preserved egg and lean pork, one bowl of black rice congee with extra sugar, two bowls of glutinous rice, two sugar pancakes, and two scallion pancakes."

"Alright!" the owner replied, a hint of pride in his voice. "Young man, you have a great eye! These are all my signature dishes; students line up every day to eat here!"

He deftly picked up a bowl, filled it with porridge, then picked up some flatbread, packed them up, and handed them to Xu Nian with a smile.

Xu Nian paid the money, picked up the breakfast, turned around and sat down next to Xu Xi, placing the breakfast on the table.

He pushed the black rice porridge with extra sugar and two sugar pancakes in front of Xu Xi, and then gave her a bowl of glutinous rice. "The porridge here is all freshly made and tastes good. If one bowl isn't enough, you can get another."

After saying that, he picked up his congee with preserved egg and lean pork and his scallion pancake and began to eat heartily.

Having eaten Western food for several months, he was already craving the simple, homely atmosphere of China. Even a simple breakfast from a roadside stall tasted a hundred times better than those elaborate but unpalatable Western dishes.

He ate ravenously, and in no time, the porridge and bread in front of him were completely gone, and he even licked the bottom of the bowl clean.

He wiped his mouth and waved to the shop owner not far away: "Boss, three more scallion pancakes, please!"

Xu Xi, standing to the side, ate much more politely.

Even though they had been hungry for a long time, they just held the bowl and sipped the porridge slowly.

She looked up at Xu Nian and saw the way he was eating, looking like a starving ghost reincarnated. She couldn't help but roll her eyes at him: "Look at you, as if I haven't been feeding you properly."

Xu Nian scratched his head, chuckled, his mouth still full of the scallion pancake that had just been handed to him, making his speech slurred.

He gave a thumbs up, squinted, and nodded: "The scallion pancakes are really delicious, hehe."

Seeing his simple and honest appearance, Xu Xi couldn't help but laugh out loud.
