Chapter 417 The Battle to Win Over His Wife
After the brief period of happiness comes the painful process of paying off the debt.
Now, Xu Xi is completely ignoring Xu Nian.
For several days in a row, Xu Nian squatted outside the door of room 2003 without fail, her voice gradually changing from an urgent plea to a low, hoarse ingratiation.
He confessed his mistakes and vowed never to overstep his bounds again, but there was only silence behind the door. All that answered him was the cold door and the silent refusal to open it.
Helpless, Xu Nian had no choice but to return to room 2004 and ask Long Teng and the others for advice on how to appease his wife.
But Long Teng and his brothers, these burly, rough men, had practically no experience in dating.
Even if you put all the people together, you can't form a complete romantic mindset; the ideas they come up with are all ridiculous.
Some suggested that Xu Nian use a megaphone to shout cheesy pickup lines downstairs at the hotel; others suggested that she pretend to be a hotel cleaner and sneak into the room to deliver flowers; still others suggested that she squat at the room door and cry her eyes out.
After listening to their suggestions, Xu Nian thought they were excellent, so she suggested that they stop giving suggestions.
Fortunately, Xu Xi was only angry with him and didn't deliberately make things difficult for him.
Every mealtime, Xu Nian would place the food she had prepared at her door.
A few hours later, when he came back, the food would always be in empty bowls, not even a drop of soup left.
Looking at the empty bowl, Xu Nian's anxious heart would be relieved a little.
These days, he hasn't been idle. He's been learning fighting techniques from Long Teng while also squeezing in time to figure out how to appease this angry little cat.
On the other side, in room 2003, Xu Xi was soaking in a bathtub filled with hot water, her snow-white hair scattered on the surface of the water like snow that hadn't melted in winter, gently swaying with the ripples.
The showerhead was still running hot water, and the steam blurred her features. She lowered her eyes, looking somewhat dazed.
After resting for a few days, her body has recovered to about 70-80%, and she is no longer in excruciating pain after walking just a few steps, unlike before.
The radio next to me was playing the morning news at a very loud volume. The announcer was speaking English at an extremely fast pace, like a machine gun.
The sound drowned out the sound of the water, echoing in the empty room and reflecting onto the water's surface, creating ripples.
These past few days, Xu Xi has been the only one in the large house. Without the man's cheeky nagging, Xu Xi is still a little unaccustomed to it.
Calming down, Xu Xi couldn't help but reflect. What Xu Nian did to her this time was actually no different from what she had done to Xu Nian before.
She went even further; when her desires were at their peak, she would tie him up in the basement and demand it from him day and night, tormenting him to the point of near death.
At that time, she never thought she was being unreasonable, nor did she ever consider whether he would feel pain or be wronged.
Why is she so angry now that the tables have turned?
Xu Xi pondered for a long time, and the only plausible explanation was that she was used to being in a dominant position and to controlling everything.
Now that they've become passive and the ones being "manipulated," it's just that they're unwilling to accept it and are not used to it.
Ultimately, she was also at fault; she shouldn't have been so angry with Xu Nian, and she shouldn't have kept giving him the cold shoulder.
Despite being neglected by her every day, Xu Nian never forgot to take care of her. Knowing that he was not used to eating Western food in this foreign land, he carefully prepared meals for her that suited his taste.
Xu Xi closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and suddenly submerged his head in the water to suppress the awkward emotions in his heart.
But she was used to being assertive, and even though she knew she had her own problems, and even though she was already wavering, she couldn't bring herself to give Xu Nian a way out.
Just then, a clear doorbell rang from outside.
Xu Xi poked his head out of the water, shook his little head, and glanced at the time on the clock not far away.
It was lunchtime, so Xu Nian must have brought him food.
She got out of the bathtub, dried her hair with a towel, wrapped the towel around herself tightly, and walked very quietly to the door. She looked carefully through the peephole to make sure no one was outside before cautiously opening the door a crack and quickly glancing inside.
On the ground outside the door was an exquisite tray with four dishes and a soup.
She crouched down, took a sniff, and it was a scent she liked.
"Never mind," she thought, "I'll go and bring her man back tonight."
She reached out to pick up the tray, and just as she was about to turn around and go inside, her fingers touched something hard.
Looking down, I saw a note and a small ticket under the rice bowl.
She pulled out the note, turned it over, and saw a line of words written on it in crooked handwriting.
"I found two movie tickets for a nearby cinema when I went out today. I heard there's a dog in this movie that does backflips. Want to go see it together?"
Seeing these utterly absurd words, Xu Xi couldn't help but burst out laughing, his dimples slightly sunken on both sides of his cheeks.
......
Two and a half hours later, Xu Nian arrived at Xu Xi's room door as usual, intending to take away the empty plate.
He bent down, about to pick up the tray from the ground, when the door behind him suddenly clicked open.
Xu Nian paused, suddenly stood up, and looked up.
Xu Xi stood at the door, wearing a tight-fitting leather jacket, paired with a short, bodycon leather skirt, and her jade-like feet were encased in black stockings and high heels, making her look petite yet sexy.
She crossed her arms, her face still bearing its usual aloof expression, quietly gazing at the man before her.
Xu Nian quickly stood at attention, momentarily at a loss for what to do with her hands. So she awkwardly raised them and made a greeting gesture: "Um... Little Flame, it's been a few days, how have you been?"
Xu Xi looked at his flustered appearance and a faint smile appeared on her lips.
She raised her hand, held the movie ticket between her fingers, and gently waved it in front of him.
"Let's go see that dog that can do backflips."
