Chapter 410 The Difficult-to-Put-Her
After a day of training, Xu Nian was in a good mood.
He hummed a little tune as he returned to his hotel room.
He was in much better shape today than yesterday. Although his muscles were still aching and every movement brought a dull pain, he was much better than yesterday when he struggled to even climb the stairs.
At this rate, he believed that one day he would be able to knock down that thick tree with one punch and reach the standard where Long Teng would teach him fighting skills.
Upon opening the hotel room door, one could see Xu Xi sitting cross-legged on the sofa reading a newspaper.
Hearing the noise, she turned her head slightly and looked at Xu Nian with a hint of resentment in her eyes.
After glancing at it briefly, he turned his attention back to the newspaper.
Xu Nian was preoccupied with her training progress and didn't notice anything amiss. She walked over to her as usual, stretched out her arm, and tried to pull her into her arms.
"Little Flame, have you missed me after a day?"
"Get out of here, don't touch me!"
Xu Xi wrinkled her nose and pushed the man away with a look of disgust. "You stink! Go take a shower."
Xu Nian then lowered her head and smelled herself. Her armpits were soaked with sweat and smelled quite pungent.
He scratched his head, a shy smile on his face, and turned to walk towards the bathroom.
Xu Xi suddenly remembered something and called out to him, "Wait."
Xu Nian stopped and turned to look at her: "What's wrong?"
"Did Long Teng give you that medicine today?" she asked vaguely, her eyes darting away, not daring to look Xu Nian in the eye.
"You mean that medicine?" Xu Nian scratched the back of her neck, her tone tinged with disappointment. "They didn't give it to me. He said he didn't have any left."
Having personally experienced the potion's miraculous effects, he shamelessly asked Long Teng for another bottle before leaving.
But Long Teng looked pained and quickly dismissed him. This greatly disappointed Xu Nian.
Hearing this, Xu Xi secretly breathed a sigh of relief, raised his hand and patted his small chest. His tense shoulders instantly relaxed, and the panic in his eyes faded a little.
Xu Nian noticed her reaction and was completely puzzled: "What's wrong? Are you bothered by this?"
"N-nothing!" Xu Xi hurriedly turned her face away, grabbed a cushion next to her and threw it at him, then crossed her arms, puffed out her cheeks, and looked sullen.
Xu Nian caught the pillow and stood there, completely bewildered.
He stared at Xu Xi's back for a long time, repeatedly thinking back to what he had done to offend her.
He thought about it for a full two and a half minutes, but still couldn't figure it out.
He wanted to go forward and ask again, but as soon as he took a step forward, Xu Xi pinched his nose and moved to the side, deliberately creating distance, his disdain in his eyes becoming more obvious.
Helpless, Xu Nian had no choice but to turn around and go into the bathroom to take a shower.
Warm water flowed down from above, sliding down the hair, across the cheeks, neck, and limbs, washing away the stickiness and sweat, and slightly relieving the soreness in the muscles.
He applied shower gel, the foam enveloping his body, but Xu Xi's sullen face was still in his mind, and he couldn't understand it at all.
The only thing he could think of was that he had fallen asleep in the bathtub last night, which made Xu Xi run around taking care of him, wiping his body and helping him to bed, and he didn't get to rest until about midnight.
I suppose she's angry about this.
Xu Nian smiled wryly at herself in the mirror and shook her head helplessly.
It's really a waste for Xu Xi, who is so small, to have to serve such a big guy like him.
Oh well, I brought this on myself, so I'll just have to make up for it.
After washing herself thoroughly from head to toe and rinsing off the soap, Xu Nian wrapped herself in a towel, dried her hair, and quickly walked out of the bathroom.
He walked straight to the sofa, sat down next to Xu Xi, and gently pulled her into his arms before she could move away.
Xu Xi still pouted, puffing up her cheeks like a little pufferfish with its fur standing on end. The tuft of hair on her head was also drooping down in front of her forehead, lacking any of her usual vitality. She let him hug her, but didn't respond at all.
"Have you eaten dinner, Little Fire?" Xu Nian softened her voice, her tone full of indulgence.
Xu Xi shook her head gently, her voice barely audible, tinged with a hint of grievance: "No, I have no appetite."
Having stayed in a foreign country for so long and eaten so much Western food, I'm already tired of it.
In addition, with anger bottled up inside, she had absolutely no desire to eat.
Xu Nian smiled and reached out to brush the silver hair from her forehead: "Are you tired of Western food? I'll cook you some Chinese dishes to change things up."
Xu Xi didn't speak, but just hummed softly and gently kicked his leg with her little foot.
Xu Nian understood; this meant he was being urged to hurry up.
He patted her head, said nothing more, and got up to walk towards the kitchen in the suite.
Fortunately, he had bought some common ingredients when he went shopping last time, and the presidential suite was fully equipped with kitchen utensils, so cooking in the hotel was not too difficult.
However, the seasonings in the kitchen were all labeled in English, which he couldn't understand. So he had to take out his phone and use translation software to decipher them bit by bit, figuring out how to use and how much to use.
