Chapter 253 Mom, I'm hooked!
Upon hearing this, Su Wuli's face flushed.
She was incredibly grateful for the dim lighting; otherwise, viewers of the live stream would have clearly seen her bright red face.
"You wait here, I'll go and take care of that thing." Yu Chen's voice was low and tinged with coldness.
As soon as he finished speaking, Su Wuli snapped out of her reverie and quickly covered his mouth with her hand.
Her palm was pressed against his lips, and his breath tickled her palm.
Her fingers curled on his cheek for a moment, then released.
"It's fake," Su Wuli lowered her voice and quickly explained, "These are all fake. They're people arranged by the production team. It's just a game. They're not real bad guys."
Yu Chen frowned, his gaze sweeping over her reddened eyes.
"Knowing you're a coward," he said, his voice low but his reprimand heavy, "you still play these scary games."
Su Wuli lowered her head, her chin almost touching her collarbone, after hearing his words.
Her fingers slid down from his lips, hung at his side, then rose again, pinched his cuff, and shook it twice.
It's just like a child who has done something wrong.
Yu Chen sighed, as if he had been holding it in for a long time and finally couldn't hold it in anymore.
He raised his hand and pinched her cheek.
He pinched the soft flesh on Su Wuli's cheek with his fingertips and gently twisted it.
It doesn't hurt.
But her face was pinched out of shape, and her lips were pouted.
Yu Chen released his grip, rubbed his fingertips against the pinch mark, and then pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.
The comments section is going crazy.
He pinched her cheek! He pinched her cheek!!
That gesture was so sweet, I'm swooning.
What are they even saying? Why are they covering their microphones? It's driving me crazy!
[When Su Wuli tugged at his sleeve, I screamed.]
Who is this guy? He has an amazing physique, and he looks so handsome in period costume.
[This isn't an NPC; NPCs wouldn't do this.]
[Boyfriend? Is he my boyfriend? The one who poured water during the last live stream?]
I watched that cheek-pinching scene ten times over.
Su Wuli looked so small next to him; he held her like a child.
"Mom, I bumped into something again."
Yu Chen raised his eyes and glanced at the camera in the corner.
The camera only captured the curve of his jawline and the moment his Adam's apple moved.
He looked away and lowered his head, his lips touching the top of her head. His lips moved slightly, but no one heard what he said.
Su Wuli lifted her head from his chest.
He pressed his thumb against the corner of her eye and wiped away the tear stain that hadn't yet dried.
"This is a live stream." Su Wuli's voice was very soft, muffled by her microphone. "You...why don't you want to leave first?"
Although she told him to leave, she gripped the man's sleeve even tighter.
Yu Chen looked down at her hand, then looked at her.
He chuckled softly, a hint of helplessness in his voice.
Yu Chen loosened his grip on her waist, raised his hand, and pulled his coat down.
With a "ripping" sound, a piece of fabric was torn off.
He covered his face with a strip of cloth, from the bridge of his nose down to his mouth and nose.
Then I wrapped it around the back of my head and tied a knot.
Only his eyes were visible.
Those eyes shone brightly in the candlelight, like the dark currents in deep water.
His movements were so fast that Su Wuli didn't even have time to react.
Her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she said nothing.
Instead, she reached out and pulled the cloth strip off his face, tidying it up.
The barrage of comments exploded.
[Tearing off clothes to cover your face? What kind of operation is this?]
[This masked look is so cool!]
[Su Wuli's movements as she pulled the cloth strip for him were so natural; he's definitely her boyfriend.]
But why is Su Wuli's boyfriend suddenly here?
[Yeah, we didn't even see when they appeared.]
They must have been waiting here for a while.
[Who knew, I've lost all interest in watching anyone else; I'm just glued to Su Wuli's shots.]
Yu Chen reached out and grasped Su Wuli's hand that was tugging at his sleeve.
"Let's go." His voice was muffled behind the strip of cloth, a little hoarse.
"Don't get too close, or you'll be caught on camera."
Yu Chen glanced at the camera and said, "It's probably too late."
Su Wuli also looked up and saw that it seemed to be the same thing.
"Let's go." Yu Chen led her away.
The live broadcast monitoring room was in complete chaos.
The director has been making variety shows for over a decade and has seen and handled all sorts of unexpected situations.
But at this moment, he was staring at the masked man in black on the screen.
The disposable paper cup in my hand was squeezed out of shape, and coffee overflowed from the rim.
His eyes were glued to the live stream, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down several times, but he didn't utter a single word.
The assistant director jumped up from his chair and rushed to the monitor, poking at the screen with his finger.
"Who is this person? We didn't have him scheduled for today."
The director was frantically flipping through the script, going over it twice.
"This person doesn't exist. There are only five on the NPC list, and they're all present. This is the sixth one."
Her voice changed as she spoke, as if she had seen a ghost in broad daylight.
The operator was shouting into the walkie-talkie, his voice was relatively steady, but he was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan.
"Who let it in? Who put the person in? Was the back door locked? Go check immediately."
A hissing sound came from the walkie-talkie, but no one answered.
The director stared at the masked man on the screen, walking slowly as if he were taking a stroll in his own backyard.
He then took a deep breath and closed his eyes briefly, thinking, "The live stream can't stop."
He immediately devised a solution: "Tell the players that this is a hidden NPC, a high-level guardian, a temporary Easter egg."
Upon hearing this, the assistant director opened his mouth as if to say something, but realized that this was already the most reasonable excuse.
The director has already started communicating with the on-site host through the headset, speaking rapidly.
"Host, the masked person in the picture isn't an NPC, it's not—"
Even the director is getting confused.
"No, he's an NPC now. Just say that the hidden guardian character was triggered by Su Wuli. If asked, just say it's an Easter egg arranged by the production team. Remember, it's an Easter egg."
The on-site host is very experienced in handling unexpected situations, quick-witted and eloquent, and can handle any situation smoothly.
He was standing in the corridor outside the ancestral hall, holding a script in his hand.
After hearing what was being said in his earpiece, he took a deep breath, rolled up the script, and stuffed it into his sleeve.
He flashed a big smile at the camera.
"Wow..." His voice was bright, filled with a surprise reminiscent of a variety show.
"Congratulations to Su Wuli for triggering our program's hidden guardian NPC. This is today's high-level Easter egg. The mysterious guardian will assist her in completing the subsequent levels."
