The Word of Heaven

Chapter 31: Three Years of Blankness

Chapter 31 Thirteen Years of Blankness

The gaze is relative.

When Pei Jinge looked at Gu Zhuo, the latter could naturally look at her clearly.

The woman in the black dress was extremely beautiful. Her hair was casually tied up into a ball, revealing her fair neck, allowing the spring light to ripple between her delicate collarbones like water, which was very touching.

However, what is truly special is still her temperament.

It is neither cold nor noble, but a kind of unconcealed leisure and laziness.

This touch of laziness, because of the shallow traces of time between her eyebrows and eyes, has a long-lasting and profound meaning, as if silently telling a story from the distant past, making people unconsciously indulge in it.

Only a very few people know that the story does not describe the beauty and warmth of a spring afternoon, but the horror created by mountains of corpses and seas of blood.

Faced with such a terrifying powerful man from the previous generation, who expressed his curiosity with a half-smile, it was hard for anyone not to feel pressured.

Gu Zhuo, however, remained very calm.

Perhaps it was because he had been bearing this pressure for ten days and had already gotten used to it.

He said nothing, just remained silent.

Pei Jinge didn’t mind it.

She is a teenager after all. It would be strange if she had no emotions after learning that everything that happened today was caused by her.

She said, “Tell me about the blank thirteen years in your life.”

Gu Zhuo asked: “What’s the reason?”

Today, the Qin Dynasty is in its heyday and order still exists. Even a violent agency like the Sky Patrol, which is affiliated with His Majesty the Emperor, needs to find a reasonable reason before doing anything.

“Now the world belongs to the Qin Empire. No country or sect in the world should disobey the Qin Empire. As the most important intelligence agency in the empire, the Sky Patrol Department can only investigate things that they are too lazy to investigate. There are few facts that they cannot find out.”

At this point, Pei Jinge’s voice was not serious at all, but became more casual: “Your blank past is one of these rare exceptions.”

She finally smiled and said, “Just consider it to satisfy my curiosity?”

When she said this, her tone was inexplicably gentle, and it was very comfortable to hear, making people subconsciously relax and no longer be on guard.

After a moment of silence, Gu Zhuo said, “That’s a very long story.”

“Today is a nice day with a warm spring breeze, so you can start from the beginning.”

Pei Jinge smiled and said, “And I am a very patient person.”

So, Gu Zhuo began to tell this story.

……

……

Seventeen years ago, the southern part of the Qin Dynasty and several vassal states suffered an extremely horrific natural disaster. Heavy rain roared down in just one day, directly raising the water levels of the major rivers in the south by several levels. Many dams were simply unable to withstand such pressure and began to be damaged.

It all happened so quickly that the local sects and government officials had not yet reacted before they were in imminent danger.

It was not long ago that Gu Zhuo opened his eyes and met the human world.

Then, he naturally became a Jiang Liuer.

After all, everyone was busy taking care of themselves at that time and trying their best to survive. Who would care about the life or death of someone who had nothing to do with them?
Still there.

A practitioner who was swimming upstream rescued him when he was about to die.

Logically speaking, when the story develops to this point, the subsequent plot will become more or less clear. For example, a good relationship is formed, and Gu Zhuo then has a thread of destiny connecting him to the human world, allowing him to move forward.

But none of this happened.

After rescuing him, the practitioner simply handed him over to a temporary refugee camp, then turned around and went to the dam to resist the flood that contained the breath of heaven and earth, and then… the dam broke and he died.

The refugee camp was destroyed, and Gu Zhuo was lucky enough to become Jiang Liuer again.

By the time this far-reaching flood was quelled, he had already wandered through nearly ten refugee camps, rarely staying there for long. Finally, an old scholar took him into the mountains and ended this fantastic journey. He no longer had to wander helplessly, and he has lived in the mountains ever since.

It was not until several years ago, after the old scholar died, that Gu Zhuo finally made that important decision – to leave the mountain.

……

……

The spring breeze fades away and the sky gradually becomes dim.

The distant story came to an end under the shade of the eaves, and there was no further news.

Gu Zhuo looked at Pei Jinge and asked, “What do you think of this story?”

“not so good.”

Pei Jinge’s evaluation was very objective: “But the background of the story is well chosen. The flood that year did have a far-reaching impact, killing nearly 100,000 people. Many files were lost as a result, and it was indeed a bit troublesome to verify.”

Gu Zhuo asked, “What’s wrong with it?”

Pei Jinge said: “First of all, you were too young to remember anything at that time. Using your extraordinary talent and precocity as an excuse may seem to leave people speechless, but in fact it will only attract more suspicion.”

Gu Zhuo said: “Second?”

Pei Jinge said: “Nearly ten refugee camps were destroyed by the flood, but you survived. This statement is too much of a fate of being alone. To put it simply, you made yourself appear too special.”

Gu Zhuo’s expression remained unchanged, and he asked, “Anything else?”

Pei Jinge said: “The cultivator at the beginning was still okay, after all, many cultivators sacrificed their lives to save the people back then. But then the old scholar appeared for too long. No matter how secluded he was in the mountains, he would have left countless traces in thirteen years, which was enough to ruin the whole story.”

Gu Zhuo sighed, and said with emotion: “It turns out that the skill of making up stories is beyond the reach of most people.”

“It is true.”

Pei Jinge seemed to share the same feeling. He turned to look at Gu Zhuo and said softly, “So you need someone to help you.”

Gu Zhuo looked at her and asked calmly, “Who can help me?”

Pei Jinge said: “Me.”

“What do I have to give?”

Gu Zhuo asked very directly.

Pei Jinge replied: “The Patrol of the Sky welcomes you very much.”

The words are true.

As long as Gu Zhuo is willing to join the Sky Patrol Bureau, she will personally fill in all the blanks in the past thirteen years and make that story full of errors and omissions become seamless and impeccable.

She did this not only out of admiration, but also to satisfy her curiosity – no one could stay with her for a long time and still keep her secrets perfectly.

As for the consequences?

There may be consequences in the human world today that she cannot bear, but that obviously has nothing to do with a cultivator who has just entered the cave.

There was silence at the railing.

Only the sound of the wind.

It seemed as if the whole world was waiting quietly, waiting for Gu Zhuo to make his own decision.

“That proposal sounds great.”

He looked at Pei Jinge and said.

Pei Jinge understood what he meant, smiled, and asked, “What’s the reason?”

Gu Zhuo said seriously: “That story is true.”
