The Hitzfeld Mysteries

As he hesitated, the looks these people gave him became colder.
Even Matt frowned slightly and took a step back, blocking Casimir’s way to escape from the door frame.
“Oh…” Casimir shrugged.
“Don’t get excited guys.”
“I’m just a little shocked… This is the first time I’ve seen so many fruits…”
The vigilance in the eyes of others remained, but Matt breathed a sigh of relief.
“It seems that you are not as comfortable as you appear, brother.” He smiled and patted Casimir on the shoulder, handing him a book without waiting for the latter to respond.
“Come on, show us your wisdom!”
Casimir took the book somewhat stiffly and looked down.
It was the thickest book of all the books he brought with him, his childhood physiological enlightenment book, “The Purple Rose”.
Cursing Carl in his heart, Casimir glanced around the room.
Matt’s expectations, as well as the cold gazes of several others – especially the young man with glasses, were all visible.
He could only hold the book and bring it to his mouth very slowly, while opening his mouth and loosening his stiff jaw.
Ruined.
He had already decided that when his mouth opened to the limit, he would use the mourning letter to knock Matt over and run away.
“boom!”
At this moment, a crisp explosion was heard from outside – most likely from the front yard.
Is that… gunfire?
Casimir recognized the voice. He focused slightly and found that all the people’s attention was drawn away.
“The police can’t find this place!” the man with glasses growled, “It must be those annoying priests!”
“Kroenke!” One of these people immediately called out his name, “What should we do now?”
“Throw away the remaining books, pick up the fruit, and run away!”
The man with glasses said hastily, “If this was a long-planned operation, they wouldn’t have opened fire to alert us… It must have been an accident. They might have discovered a newcomer like him outside!”
As he spoke, he glared at Casimir fiercely.
“What does it have to do with me?” Casimir showed his superb acting skills, with an innocent look on his face, “I didn’t lead him here!”
Matt opened his mouth, deciding to hide the fact that he had a giant companion.
The others took off their coats and pocketed all the bright red fruits in front of them. Then they did something that made Casimir’s pupils shrink – they exchanged the things in their hands.
Then they rushed out of the door, each running faster than the other.
“go!”
The man with glasses is last.
He seemed to have his eyes on Casimir, and when he left, he simply grabbed his arm and rushed to the end of the corridor with him.
“this is for you!”
Casimir was forced to take a bag of fruit with a confused expression on his face.
“What do you mean……?”
“Take care of the newcomers.” The man with glasses grinned, revealing a somewhat sinister smile. “You just joined, your foundation is weak, and you need more supplements… You can take one out and eat it right now.”
“Eat it directly?”
“Yes.” The man stared at Casimir’s face, “Just like you did in the library.”
Once these words came out, Casimir’s possibility of refusing was basically completely blocked.
Refusing means helping to put it on directly.
But Casimir doesn’t want to give up his undercover identity.
Without any hesitation, he took out a bright red fruit while running and put it into his mouth.
It is indeed not big, about the size of a small orange, and it is no problem to eat one in one bite.
“Sha…sha…sha…gulp!”
Then she began to chew the fruit pulp in front of the man, and swallowed all the pulp and juice in front of him.
Seeing him do this, the man with glasses relaxed his expression a lot.
“I approve of you.”
he said.
“No matter who you were in the past, you will not regret the decision you made today.”
After leaving this somewhat ambiguous remark, he accelerated suddenly, turned the corner to shake off Casimir, and ran wildly in the other direction of Anmei Street. Soon he disappeared into the night fog.
Casimir slowed down his pace little by little until he stopped completely.
He stood there, holding the bag of fruits that he had considered “disgusting” not long ago, his unfocused eyes staring straight at the darkness in front of him, and he began to stare blankly as if he was immersed in some kind of hallucination.
After a while, a tall and mighty figure, like a big and nimble dog, jumped out from the bushes at the backyard gate. He immediately raised his cane and pointed it at Casimir.
But after seeing who he was, the visitor immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Taking two steps forward, Xiaomila-Carr closed the distance between him and her.
None of the rooms in the ruins of the asylum had doors, and due to years of disrepair, there was basically no sound insulation.
He had followed Casimir and Matt here, used his skills to sneak into the corridor, eavesdropped for a while, and immediately concluded that Casimir might be in trouble.
So…he was the one who fired that shot.
Now it seems that the effect is very good. Those people have escaped, and Casimir’s undercover identity should not have been exposed.
“Casimir.”
After calling out to the other party in a low voice, Carl walked closer and found that Casimir seemed to be a little abnormal.
Standing here in a daze?
This look…why does it look so similar to someone who has taken hallucinogens?
“Casimir?”
He called out again, and this time Carl patted the other person’s shoulder hard.
Casimir shuddered violently.
As he regained consciousness, his eyes burst into a bright light.
“I know,” he whispered.
“What?” Carl was stunned.
“I mean.” He grinned and looked in the direction where the man with glasses last disappeared.
“I know why he said that…”
Chapter 31: Bird-pulling
“We agreed that was the last question.”
“The frequency and manner in which you asked me questions almost made me feel like I was a prisoner being tortured and interrogated!”
Fairy Bar, back alley. Two people and a bird are bargaining over a problem.
“I’m so sorry~”
One of the gray-haired girls clasped her hands together, her right eye was half-closed, and her lips were tightly pursed.
“After all, this is related to such an important matter… Mr. Simon, please give us some guidance!”
“Okay… okay…” The Skeleton Bird couldn’t stand it any more and pulled the brim of its hat with its wings. “I really can’t stand a little girl like you… Hey, if you have any questions, just ask them quickly!”
So is this a loss for me?
Xia Yibing stood beside him with her arms folded across her chest, her chin held high. If I had to describe her expression, it would be like -へ-
Although I agree that Hitzfeld is pretty and cute, and it would be even more unbearable if I were to be begged like this, I still feel unhappy… Is it because I am dissatisfied with being outdone as a woman?
Xia Yibing really wanted to think that was the case – she just didn’t want to admit that she was jealous of a strange bird.
“This time there are really… really only two questions.” Hitzfeld gave an “innocent, slightly embarrassed smile.”
“Come on.” The “wisp of fire” in the eyes of the skeleton bird flickered, “Every one of your questions contains a bunch of small and messy problems…”
“Ahem!” Hitzfeld decided to ignore its complaints. “Well, we are very grateful to Mr. Simon for taking care of us, especially–“
She lowered her head slightly and looked at the two snow-white envelopes in Xia Yibing’s hands.
Written on the front of the envelope were their names and the address: 1 Hermon Street, Harry Library. On the back were two bright fruits outlined in red ink.
The fruit is not big, about the size of a small orange. Its shape is similar to a combination of a tomato and an apple, and its skin looks particularly smooth, which is exactly the same as a tomato.
“Especially since they gave us something so precious, the certificate to enter Harry’s library—”
“Are you worried that I’m lying to you?” Simon looked up. “Do you think what I said, ‘As long as you hold this envelope, everything in the city will no longer attack you,’ is a lie? Is it to trick you?”
“Of course not!” Hitzfeld quickly shook his head and began to explain: “It’s like this… Before coming here, we met someone named Bella Haytham outside…”
“Bella Haytham!” Simon’s body trembled, and his cry suddenly became sharp: “Do you know Bella Haytham? Are you friends with that bastard?”
…It seems that Haytham’s own experiences in West Grant were somewhat different from those described in his stories.
Hitzfeld and Xia Yibing were both sweating.
Simon had called him a “bastard”, so of course they wouldn’t be stupid enough to admit it.
“No, we just read the article he wrote.”
“article?”
“Yes, he wrote down all his experiences in West Grant in the form of a travelogue, and the protagonist was himself.”
“Oh! How shameless he is!” Simon screamed. “That bastard! He is the greediest man I have ever seen! He even stole my favorite hat! I hate everything about him!”
“What’s wrong with him?” It asked quickly, “If you are not friends, why do you mention this bastard?”
“Because he’s dead.” Xia Yibing interrupted, “One of our tasks is to investigate the cause of his death, so we want to know from you what he did here and what he encountered.”
“He’s dead? Great!” Simon jumped up and down on the lid of the trash can to celebrate, then cleared his throat: “Ask, ladies. Simon will tell you everything.”
It seems that it really loves the hat that Haytham took away.
Hitzfeld glanced at the felt hat on top of his head.
I didn’t notice it before, but now I see that the surface is indeed pilling.
The following questions and answers are relatively routine.
“Alone? No… He didn’t come alone. There were many people coming in at that time. They were luckier than you. With the help of the Dream Fairy, they didn’t encounter any star jellyfish… or anything else.”
“Yes, he asked a lot of questions. Those living people are very curious. They are also timid and greedy. In order to survive and gain benefits, they found out from me that they can exchange the bodies of the living for invitations, so they did it without hesitation.”
“So are you sure these two invitations were sent to us by you.”
Xia Yibing couldn’t help but interrupt again.
“If you doubt me, just give me yours back!”
Xia Yibing didn’t say anything, but her face was still full of doubt.
“How rude!” Simon was furious. “I wanted to treat you differently because you were… the only two who could get through the blockade of the star jellyfish and sneak into the bar! How dare you look at me like this!”
It’s not like it took the initiative to give this invitation!
Of course, it definitely didn’t agree to it out of pity because another cute child begged it for a long time. It really has high hopes for them.
Such high-quality living people finally came to West Grant, but refused to trade with the undead.
It would be a shame if they couldn’t enter the library…
Hitzfeld tried to comfort Simon again, and finally managed to calm him down.
“How do I know what happened to him that made him insane?”
