I, Kousaka Kyousuke, the Knight of the Helping Table

Page 43

Hachiman raised his right hand stiffly and pretended to greet Yui.

“Hey, Yuigahama. I bought the drinks… ah!”

Compared to Hachiman’s embarrassment, Kyosuke’s look was much more ridiculous. He stood on one leg, holding the lemon tea he bought for Miura under his armpit, rubbing his right foot with both hands after taking off his indoor shoes. He saw Yui and wanted to say hello, but he raised his right hand and the drink under his armpit fell down. In order to prevent the bottle from falling to the ground, he quickly used his hand to catch it. As a result, his whole body lost balance and fell heavily to the ground.

“Xiao Jing! Are you okay?”

“Okay.”

“Husband! Are you okay?” Xiaoyu rushed out of the classroom after hearing Yui’s cry. She threw herself directly on Kyosuke and checked every part of his body with concern.

“It’s okay, it’s okay. I stepped on my right foot with my left foot and fell down accidentally.” Kyosuke was too embarrassed to tell the actual reason, so he had to explain that it was caused by his own carelessness. He got up from the ground and put on his right shoe, then winked at Yui to signal her to keep it a secret.

Because Tama was there, Yui didn’t have the nerve to complain to Kyosuke and Hachiman about the two of them eavesdropping on her and Yumiko’s conversation outside the classroom. She stuck out her pink tongue at Hachiman, made a face (which she didn’t dare to do to Kyosuke in front of Tamamo), and then ran away.

———————————————————————————————————————————————— ——————————

“Hey, husband, what do you want for dinner? I’ve already sent an email to Mother Qu, telling her to prepare the ingredients first. I’ll make dinner as soon as I get home.”

“Whatever, Xiaoyu, you can do whatever you want.”

“Mo-chan said you don’t like spicy food, how about I make you sweet and sour fish? What does Mei-chan like to eat?”

“Kirino…”

Hachiman followed Kyousuke and Tama to the Service Club classroom. Looking at the two couples who were constantly showing affection not far in front of him, Hachiman spat unwillingly. From the conversation between the two just now, he learned that Tamamonomae was currently living in Kyousuke’s house. What was this? A young couple living together? Am I the only one who is lonely? He felt very uncomfortable when he thought about having to endure this “newlywed couple” who had been showing affection for a whole day in the Service Club. If Yukinoshita and Yuigahama could still comfort each other, then he, Hikigaya Hachiman, could truly be called a lonely man.

Hachiman swore that if he wasn’t afraid of Hiratsuka Shizuka’s fist, he would definitely skip club activities.

“puff.”

“Sorry. No, Kyousuke, why did you stop?”

Hachiman bumped into Kyosuke’s back. He was a little confused. The club hadn’t arrived yet, but why did the boy stop like that? He wondered.

Kyosuke didn’t say anything. He pointed at Yukino and Yui who were standing in front of the classroom door.

Hachiman saw two people open the door slightly and peek into the classroom through the crack.

What are these two people doing?

Hachiman was a little curious, but seeing how focused the two people were, he was embarrassed to step forward and say hello.

Xiaoyu was very interested in the sneaky look of the two people. She came directly behind them and put her hands directly on the shoulders of Yukino and Yui.

“Migu, what bad things are you doing?”

“”oops!””

The two men jumped up in fright at Xiaoyu’s greeting.

“Who are you? Why do you come here so suddenly?”

“Tamamo-san…you scared me…”

Yukino looked at Tama with a strange look. She must be a student in the school because she was wearing a school uniform. However, she had no impression of this extremely beautiful female classmate. Because Yui called out Tama’s name directly, Yukino asked Yui: “Yuigahama-san, who is this? I have never seen her before.”

Yui found that Yukino didn’t know Tama, so she quickly introduced her to her: “Xiaoxue, this is Tamamonomae-san. She is a new student who just transferred to our class today.”

“Transferring to a school at this time?” Yukino found it very strange. After all, if one really wanted to transfer schools, one should have done so at the beginning of the semester.

“Yeah, our whole class was shocked. And, she also…”

Xiaoyu interrupted Yui’s speech and raised her hand to signal Yukinoshita: “Hi, my name is Tamamonomae, and I’m your husband’s fiancée. Please give me your guidance.”

“Husband?” Xueno felt strange. Is there still anyone who uses such a cautious title now? Even if they are referring to their fiancé, they wouldn’t pronounce it this way, right? And why did they say this first? It felt like a puppy peeing and marking its territory when it was taking a walk.

“Ah, Tamamo-san means Kousaka-san,” Yui said awkwardly, pointing to Kyosuke behind Tamamo.

“Hey~~~ It’s him…” Xueno patted Xiaoyu’s shoulder and said, “You are so pitiful, having such a man as your fiancé.”

“Migu?” Xiaoyu didn’t quite understand what Xueno meant.

“I just think that if you don’t want to ruin your life with this playboy, you’d better find a way to cancel the engagement.”

“I feel like you have a deep misunderstanding of my husband. My husband is the best man in the world!” Xiaoyu showed her little fangs and protested to Yukino.

Yukino thought that Xiaoyu didn’t know what Kyosuke did, so she kindly reminded him: “Do you know what this man does?”

Xiaoyu said nonchalantly: “I know, isn’t it a husband’s job to conquer other girls with his charm?”

“You actually knew…” Yukino was surprised. She originally thought that Kyosuke had seduced the girl named Tamamonomae, but it turned out that she knew that Kousaka was a gigolo.

“After all, this is my husband’s job. He has to make such efforts for our future home. And the fact that so many girls are conquered by his charm doesn’t just show that he is an outstanding man?” Xiaoyu held her face with love on her face.

Is this person out of her mind? She actually thinks that her husband is a gigolo. What’s so good about this dead fish eyes with glasses? Although he is indeed very handsome without the glasses, isn’t he useless except for that face? Yukino feels that she really can’t understand the other person’s thoughts.

“Of course, selling smiles is just a job requirement. I believe that you, my husband, will not cross that red line, right?” Xiaoyu turned to Kyosuke with a smile on her face.

Kyosuke felt all the hairs on the back of his neck stand up, and he nodded hastily to assure them.

“What if this guy crossed the line?” Yukino was hesitating whether or not to expose the fact that this guy had stayed overnight at her house. This might allow the girl in front of her, who had fallen in love with him, to see the true face of this scumbag.

“Of course, it’s to castrate the person directly, both men and women.” Xiaoyu said extremely horrifying words with an innocent look on her face.

This guy is serious. Yukino decided that for the sake of her mother’s safety, she should keep the matter of the overnight stay to herself.

Tangzi, who was next to Yukino, decided to live a good life with the Kane family, as she would not be able to enjoy the handsome Kousaka classmate.

“Why are you two standing at the door and not going in?”

Kyousuke felt that he had an obligation to ease the current awkwardness.

“Well… there’s a suspicious person inside.” Yui peeked inside through the crack in the door again.

“Um, that person…Kousaka, go in and take a look.” Yukino, who originally wanted to call him scum, saw Xiaoyu beside her and decided to save some face for Kyosuke.

After Yui and Yukino made way, Kyosuke secretly peeked into the door and saw a fat man in a coat standing near the classroom window. Although Kyosuke’s memory as a time traveler was quite embarrassing, he still had some impression of this fat man. This fat man should be Hachiman’s good friend, and his name seemed to be…Za Muji?

“What…what are you doing?” Hachiman saw Kyosuke looking at him with pity in his eyes.

“You, Hachiman, come over here and do the work.”

Kyosuke hooked his finger at Hachiman.

Come here, sister, don’t do such a suspicious thing.

Hachiman wanted to retreat, but his way was blocked by Xiaoyu.

“If my husband wants you to go over there, you should go over there obediently.”

“Yes!” Hachiman quickly ran to the classroom door.

“Hachiman, open the door.”

Can’t you just talk properly, you bespectacled boy? Hachiman looked around and saw Kyosuke standing beside him, asking him to open the door; Tamamonomae, who followed Kyosuke’s lead; Yuigahama, who made a “please go first” gesture; and Yukinoshita, who was giving off an impatient aura, as if to open the door for anyone.

Hachiman thought that he should find another club that could accommodate him, as he had no status in this club. He did not peek through the half-open door, but opened it directly.

There happened to be a gust of wind blowing through the window, and the strong wind blew the papers that had been placed on the table all over the classroom.

Then Hachiman saw a very beautiful scene: in the sunset after the spring rain, in a classroom with white papers flying all over the sky, a fat man extended his right hand of friendship to him.

“I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, Hikigaya Hachiman.”

“Sorry to bother you.” Hachiman closed the classroom door without hesitation.

“Wait, Hachiman, open the door!” The fat man knocked on the classroom door desperately.

Hachiman was on the other side of the door, holding it tightly with his hands to prevent the fat man from opening it.

“Open the door! If you have the guts to close the door, then open it for me!” The fat man kept knocking on the door desperately.

“Such a noise, who would open the door for a pervert like you?”

“No, Hachiman. Please open the door quickly! I have been waiting for you here for too long and I need to pee urgently. Please open the door first so I can go to the toilet!”

PS: In the original novel, there is a gap of several days between the time of Zaimokuza light novel and the lunch incident, but the animation seems to be set on the same day. I always feel that the animation arranged the time very tightly when adapting it. This book chose the timeline of the animation because of the plot.

Chapter 30: Hachiman: Lady Jade, Xiaofanzi reports to you that another vixen has appeared.

“So this is your request, Zaimokuza-san?”

Yukino was flipping through the stack of manuscript papers in her hand.

“Yes.” The fat man, no, it was Zaimokuza who nodded to Yukino, “This is a submission I was going to submit for a newcomer award. Since I don’t have any friends, I don’t know the quality of the manuscript. I heard that this place can help everyone solve their problems, so I came here to ask for help.”

“Why don’t you post it online and let everyone comment on it? More people will see it online, and maybe there will be more pertinent comments. Wouldn’t it be very one-sided if there are only a few of us? What if the subject matter is not to your taste…”

Hachiman obviously didn’t want to take over this troublesome matter, especially since his chuunibyou speech just now had made everyone in the club look at him with a weird look. Especially Miss Tamamonomae, the goddess in his mind, your look of “you pervert, stay away from my husband” is really hurtful. I have already graduated from chuunibyou, and I will never say such things again.

“Let me see…” Kyosuke took the manuscript from Yukino and flipped through it. It seemed that the novel she wrote was about an ordinary boy who discovered a mysterious power in his body one day and then fought against various superpowers. The subject matter was quite old-fashioned, and the writing style… Although Kyosuke’s own writing was a dark history, he had been with Shiyu for so long, and although he was not good at writing, his appreciation ability had at least been cultivated.

The writing style is extremely bad, probably only slightly better than myself and Toilet Paper. However, Toilet Paper has girls and illustrations, while Zaimokuza’s work is completely for boys, with no room for manipulation at all.

After Kyosuke finished reading it, he handed the manuscript to Hachiman, who then flipped through it casually.

Zaimokuza noticed that several people were somewhat absent-minded when they were looking at his work. He was afraid that everyone would give him casual comments after reading it so hastily, so he quickly took out a few more manuscripts from his bag.

“You don’t have to do this. I brought several copies of the manuscript. You can take a closer look. You don’t have to give me an answer today. I can wait until tomorrow.” After saying that, Zaimokuza distributed the manuscripts to everyone.

Yui took the manuscript with some distress. She was not interested in light novels at all, but she was too embarrassed to refuse the other party.

“No, I don’t really like modern novels. I’d be more interested in classics like The Tale of Genji.”

Xiaoyu had no intention of taking over and directly rejected the fat man.

“Why is this happening…” Zaimokuza felt a little disappointed that Tama directly rejected him.

Yukino and Hachiman started to read seriously, but judging from their frowning faces, they were obviously having a hard time. Kyousuke was lost in thought as he looked at the first page of Zaimokuza’s novel.

“Snapped!”

The classroom door was opened again.

Kyosuke glanced at the door and his expression changed immediately. Xiaoyu followed Kyosuke’s gaze and her eyes changed immediately, and her tail hair stood up.

“As promised, I’ll do it, Junior-kun.”

The person standing at the door was Kasumigaoka Utaha.

“Senior…senior.” Kyosuke wanted to stand up to greet her, but Xiaoyu held him down in his seat.

Xueno put down the manuscript when she heard the noise and looked up at Shiyu. Comparing the slight difference in her school uniform, Xueno knew that the other person was a senior from the third grade, but she had never seen Shiyu before so she asked, “Excuse me, senior, who are you?”
