Honghuang: Senior Brother of the Chan Sect, I am Guangchengzi
Chapter 349 Wherever My Heart Is, That’s My Hometown
Chapter 349 Wherever My Heart Is, That’s My Hometown
Sun Wukong was a rookie and the youngest in the sect. He was completely clueless about everything and had no choice but to ask his senior brothers for advice.
These people had been waiting for a long time. Facing Sun Wukong’s humble request, Medicine King Buddha smiled and said, “Since Junior Brother has decided to live here, you naturally have to decide on a place to live first.”
When Sun Wukong heard this, he laughed and said, “That’s easy to say. Junior brother, I was born and raised in the wild, so I can live anywhere. Not long ago, Junior brother, I slept in the wetland!”
Seeing how lively Sun Wukong was, the other Hunyuan Buddhas couldn’t help but laugh. They felt like they had accepted a little disciple and no matter how much they loved him, it was not enough, so how could they bear to punish him?
But teaching is still necessary. Facing Sun Wukong’s liveliness, Medicine King Buddha also found it funny, but still shook his head and said, “How can you do this? We are disciples of the founder, how can we live in the wild like animals?
Of course you have to live in a house. Besides, if you really live outside, it will be troublesome enough to resist the cold winter in March, the scorching heat in June, the heavy rain in July, and the mountain torrents in September. How can you have time to practice?”
Sun Wukong humbly listened to the instructions and finally asked: “Then I should live in the house like all the other brothers.”
But another honest-looking man shook his head and said, “Wanting to live here is one thing, but being able to live here is another. The house in our Slanting Moon Three Stars Cave is not ordinary.
The so-called slanting moon is a curved hook with three dots on it, which is the word “heart”. Therefore, our slanting moon and three stars hole is the heart hole, and whatever the heart thinks is what the intention reaches.
Don’t be fooled by the countless palaces and buildings here, but every room and every house has an owner. There is no ownerless house here, just like there is no ownerless heart. “
Sunlight King Buddha said a lot of confusing things, which made Sun Wukong dizzy. He couldn’t help scratching his head and asked stupidly: “Then where should I live, Junior Brother?”
At this time, all the Buddhas laughed and said in unison: “We don’t know.”
We don’t know?
Sun Wukong was even more confused. He ran directly to a kind-looking senior brother, stretched out his hand to pull his sleeve, and shook it pitifully, begging: “Good senior brother, please tell me, where should I live?”
Seeing the silly Sun Wukong, the ancient Buddha Ran Deng also laughed: “We really don’t know where you live. As the saying goes, your mind is unrestrained. In the Slanting Moon and Three Stars Cave, as long as you want, your house can be anything.
If you don’t tell us, how can we know where your house is? Just like how no one knows what people are thinking unless they say it out loud. “
After being explained by the ancient Buddha Dipankara, Sun Wukong suddenly understood. The meaning was very clear, which was that he had to decide for himself where to live.
As long as you think about your own house in your mind, a corresponding house will appear in the Slanting Moon and Three Stars Cave. However, I am afraid that even the owner of the house does not know what his house looks like.
Just like the real self, perhaps the person who knows you best is not yourself, but others.
I don’t know how long these brothers have been practicing here. If something that has never appeared before appears and is so unusual, I am afraid it will be spotted at a glance. On the contrary, I may not be able to recognize it because I am becoming more familiar with it.
This is what the heart means.
But the meaning was very clear, these senior brothers would not help him find his house, he had to find it on his own.
And this is the first test of the Xieyue Sanxing Cave: What is sincerity?
Sun Wukong calmed down and tried hard to recall the appearance of the house in his mind. The first thing he thought of was the attic palace he saw at the beginning. It was so magnificent and dazzling, even more gorgeous than the palace he saw in Jambu Continent.
But as he was thinking, Sun Wukong couldn’t help but yawn, lowered his head, his eyes were hazy, and he actually fell asleep like that.
Seeing that Sun Wukong could actually sleep while standing, many Buddhas couldn’t help laughing. However, they also wanted to let Sun Wukong know how powerful they were, so they didn’t remind him and left quietly.
The Golden Crow descends, the Moon Rabbit rises, the scorching sunlight gradually dims, and is replaced by the bright moonlight.
The cold moonlight shines on the world, even this Lingtai Fangcun Mountain and the Xieyue Sanxing Cave in the mountain are also covered by the moonlight.
The coldness of the moon filled the universe, and a layer of white frost had already formed on this Fangcun Mountain. The early frost was so cold that even a sacred body like Sun Wukong shivered and woke up immediately.
The original bustle had long faded away, and there was only silence and indifference in the cave. Only the clean white frost accompanied Sun Wukong, but this companionship did not bring any warmth, only endless coldness.
“I’m so cold!”
Sun Wukong had never known that the night cold could be so biting. On the Flower-Fruit Mountain, even when it was the coldest, Sun Wukong only felt a little cool.
The first time he knew about ice in his life was when he accidentally touched a piece of ice rock from the North Sea in the Southern Continent. Only then did he know what cold was.
But now, he felt this feeling again, an indescribable biting cold.
Sun Wukong couldn’t stand the cold any more, so he took two steps at a time and jumped directly to a small wooden building. He stretched out his hand and patted the door in front of him, squeaking, “Brother, brother, open the door! I am Sun Wukong, the weather is too cold, let me in to warm myself up!”
After a while, a voice came from behind the door: “Brother Wukong, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, but this room is a projection of my heart. You have never entered my heart. Even if I open the door, you can’t get in.”
But Sun Wukong didn’t believe it. Since the door was already open, where could he not go in? He banged on the door with all his heart, begging his brother to let him in to avoid the cold.
Then the door of the wooden building opened as Sun Wukong had expected. Sun Wukong walked in quickly, thanking his senior brother loudly for his heroic feat.
However, as soon as he rushed into the wooden door, he was thrown out by an invisible force. The cold wind blew in the air and made Sun Wukong very cold.
“Junior Brother Wukong, see, I told you that you can’t get in. Don’t try again. Hurry up and find your own room to avoid the cold.” A voice came from behind the door again. It was obvious that the senior brother saw everything.
Seeing that the houses in the Slanting Moon and Three Stars Cave were so unique, Sun Wukong was really convinced. He didn’t dare to try it again, otherwise he would be pushed away a few more times and the cold wind alone would be enough to blow him to death.
So Sun Wukong could only say goodbye to his brother, shivering as he thought about his own room and endured the cold wind.
But until the night passed, the Golden Crow rose again, and the warm sunshine dispelled the cold, Sun Wukong still had no idea what his own house should look like.
At this time, everyone else also left the house, talking and laughing, as if nothing had happened.
Seeing Sun Wukong standing here with all white hair, a Buddha pretended to be surprised and said, “Huh? Where did this white ape come from? Brothers, let’s catch him and make him a companion for Brother Wukong.”
The white ape shuddered and returned to its original stone monkey form. Sun Wukong smiled bitterly and said, “Brothers, please don’t make fun of me. I have been freezing here all day and I really can’t say much.”
These Hunyuan Buddhas naturally knew that Sun Wukong had been freezing all night, and that he was even pushed out by Moonlight King Buddha in order to let Sun Wukong know what the heart meant. Medicine King Buddha sighed, “Brother Wukong, you really can’t wait any longer. It’s the coldest time of the year, and the nights are cold. If you continue to be cold and windy, your nose will be blocked and your head will be dizzy. How can you go to listen to the teachings?”
The Sunlight King Buddha agreed, “Yes, it’s not that cold now. If it really gets the coldest, it will snow and hail, and it will freeze people to death.”
Moonlight Buddha continued, “That’s not all. It’s OK to just bear with it when it’s cold, but when it gets hot, it’s a big deal. In the scorching sun, you can drown yourself in sweat. If we didn’t have a house, how could we have survived until now?”
Listening to these people talking, no matter how calm Sun Wukong tried, he was still scared and broke out in a cold sweat. In this case, if he didn’t want to leave the house, he would die.
When he thought of this possibility, Sun Wukong felt a little anxious and wanted to immediately imagine what the house looked like.
But his mind was restless, and the more anxiously he thought about it, the more happily the monkey and Pegasus jumped, disturbing his mind and making it more difficult for him to calm down and imagine what his house looked like.
It was not until someone shouted in the distance that the master was preaching that Sun Wukong came to his senses. He was very depressed and followed his brothers to listen to Master Bodhi preaching.
Back to the place where he preached, Bodhi Patriarch was still sitting there calmly. Looking at Sun Wukong’s depressed face, Bodhi Patriarch didn’t care at all. He just said quietly: “If your heart is as clear as ice, you won’t be startled even if the sky collapses. All things are especially calm. I am calm. A bird spins in the sky, summer returns to the earth, and the lake is late…”
The teachings of Bodhi Patriarch are very interesting. He first talked about the Ice Heart Secret, then he directly started talking about the method of finding the earth veins, and then he simply talked about what is the heart cultivation
In short, he talked about it here and there, and would immediately change his opinion on each thing after saying a few words. It can be said that the teachings of hundreds of schools of thought are all contained in the words of one teacher.
If anyone else had preached like this, I’m afraid no one would have listened.
After all, it is a torture to try to understand something else just after you have understood a little bit of something. It is easy to learn but difficult to master. In the end, you will become an incompetent person who is good at everything but not good at anything.
But from the words of Patriarch Bodhi, these meanings can be transformed into something like instinct, firmly imprinted in everyone’s hearts, making them unforgettable.
Sometimes having one more means may mean a better chance of survival.
Sun Wukong was even more fascinated by what he heard. He was born and raised in nature, and even though he could understand some things through the authority of heaven and earth, the world at this time was different from the past.
In the past, the ability to know everything about the world without leaving the house was only possessed by the great gods. Sun Wukong was at best a small monster who had not yet become an immortal. How could he possibly have such a skill?
The things he usually knew were just hearsay or learning by imitation. Now when someone really talked about these things, Sun Wukong listened more attentively than anyone else.
After hearing the last part, Sun Wukong’s originally beating heart finally calmed down, as if he had really conquered his unruly mind, and his heart was filled with peace like his dream hometown.
The appearance of this dreamy hometown is exactly the same as the Water Curtain Cave in Huaguo Mountain.
During this sermon, Sun Wukong realized the meaning of the heart and found the location of his own cave.
Huaguoshan.
Patriarch Bodhi noticed the changes in Sun Wukong, so he also talked more about the Taoism regarding the mind.
Three days passed before Bodhi Patriarch stopped preaching and waved his hand, saying, “Alright, alright. It will be windy in the evening and snowy at night. You guys take care of yourselves.”
Many Buddhas said in unison: “Disciples know.”
Sun Wukong was a little slow, but he also said quickly: “Disciple knows.”
Afterwards, the group left, talking and laughing, and returned to their own houses and locked themselves in. Sun Wukong looked around for his house.
He had figured out what his house looked like, but that didn’t mean he could go inside.
You can see yourself clearly, but it does not mean you can know yourself. What you see clearly is only the surface, while knowing yourself is the true meaning.
As he continued searching, gusts of cold wind began to blow. Sun Wukong became more and more anxious, until finally a piece of white snow fell on his shoulder, and he suddenly realized that heavy snow had begun to fall.
When Sun Wukong thought that he might freeze to death here, he felt dejected. He had been looking for the old immortal for so long and finally found him, but in the end he was going to freeze to death. This was really embarrassing.
“My pity for you, my king. I can’t find the remedy for immortality. We will meet again in the underworld.”
Sun Wukong was dejected and hopeless. When he saw a peach tree in the distance, he climbed up it. He thought that as a monkey, he would rather die on the tree.
He did not blame Patriarch Bodhi for causing his death. After all, it was all his own request and he came in voluntarily. If he blamed Patriarch Bodhi for everything, it would be too unfair.
Watching the snowflakes falling, Sun Wukong closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
He didn’t want to watch himself freeze to death. It would be better to die in his sleep.
In his deep sleep, Sun Wukong felt extremely at peace. He seemed to have returned to the Flower-Fruit Mountain and met his group of monkeys. He became the Monkey King again and lived happily and carefreely with these monkeys all day long.
However, in this carefree life, there was always an invisible force pushing him, which made Sun Wukong feel impatient. He was already frozen to death, why were there still people bothering him? Could it be that the King of Hell would not even let people sleep? !
Sun Wukong opened his eyes and was about to curse the ungrateful King of Hell, but unexpectedly he was facing Medicine King Buddha.
Seeing that Sun Wukong finally woke up, Medicine King Buddha smiled and said, “Brother Wukong, you just woke up now. If you were any later, you would not be able to catch up with Master’s teaching. Congratulations, you have found your own house.”
“I found my house?” Sun Wukong was a little stunned after hearing this: “Didn’t I freeze to death? How could I have found my house?”
Medicine King Buddha smiled in surprise, looked around, pointed at the hill and said, “Isn’t this Junior Brother Wukong’s house? I have never seen this hill before. I guess Junior Brother came up with it himself.”
A hill?
At this time, Sun Wukong also jumped off the pine tree, looked around, and found that this hill was very similar to a mountain in his mind, but this mountain was too small and he could not recognize it.
It was not until a moment later that he suddenly realized that this was a mountain of flowers and fruits!
