Don’t call me evil god
Chapter 924: Population Problems in the Deep Region
Chapter 924: Population Problems in the Deep Region
At Gray’s call, most of the gray dwarves in the Pais settlement headed towards the direction of the large elevator from which everyone came.
There were only a few lazy looking fellows left in the settlement.
Pete called out to Brandon and Reina.
“Let’s go, let’s walk around here.”
If he was the only one going to inquire about the news, his actions might seem a little deliberate.
Call a few friends and pretend to chat and sell things. This is much more covert.
The two of them, along with Bron who was in charge of translation, first strolled around the Paisi settlement and looked at every place.
have to say.
The settlement of Pais looked poor.
Apart from the protective net outside that looks worth some money, there is nothing exquisite here.
The whole settlement exudes a primitive and rough flavor.
Their various daily necessities are still made of the most common pottery, and they all appear to be hand-fired and have an extremely rough appearance.
Passing by the caves where the gray dwarves lived, Pete poked his head in and took a look.
Then he pursed his lips and shook his head vigorously.
“It seems they don’t eat well.”
Over in Dawn City, with the widespread popularity of the harvest magic, hunger has become a thing of the past. As long as people are diligent and hardworking, they will have enough black bread to eat, and can even have a slice of cheese or bacon from time to time.
In the deep region, Pete saw a black mass in the gray dwarves’ cave, and saw an elderly gray dwarf slowly chewing on the mass.
Things that look good may not necessarily taste good, but things that look bad definitely don’t taste good!
Go around to the square of the Paisi settlement.
Although it is called a square, it is actually just a relatively flat open space, probably where the gray dwarves usually use for activities and gatherings.
Pete finally set his target on a gray dwarf who was bare-chested, barefoot, and wearing only a pair of black boxer briefs.
The other person had a long pipe-like tube in his mouth and was puffing out smoke, occasionally spewing out some light blue smoke from his mouth.
Pete came closer and started talking.
“Friend, what are you doing?”
The gray dwarf tilted his head slightly, glanced at Pete, took another comfortable puff of his pipe, exhaled a large cloud of smoke, and then slowly began to speak:
“Can’t you see? I’m fucking you, idiot. I’m having a blast!”
Bron translated this sentence to Pete and the other two with a helpless look on his face.
Reina’s face darkened when she heard that, and her right hand moved to her waist as fast as lightning.
The next second, the sharp dagger was already on the gray dwarf’s neck.
An ominous purple light flashed on Reina’s left hand, a sign of [Soul Extraction].
“If you really want to die, then so be it!”
“Even the god of death cannot take your soul away, because I will extract your soul, make it into the freshest soul fragment, and then let you be burned to ashes in the sulfur fire of hell!”
Reina’s sinister voice frightened the gray dwarf so much that the pipe in his hand fell to the ground with a snap.
The person who was previously smoking and confused immediately became sober.
He raised his hands tremblingly:
“Wait…wait! Wait!”
“That’s not what I meant! Dear Warlock! I apologize! Please let me go!”
Reina snorted coldly.
He used a little more force to push the dagger downwards, leaving a shallow mark on the gray dwarf’s neck, scaring the other party so much that he dared not breathe. Then he stopped and retracted the dagger.
“What’s your name?” Pete grinned.
To deal with these gray dwarves, the simplest and most brutal force can easily make them obedient.
“My name is Ken, you can call me Bloody Ken.”
Another standard gray dwarf name, a common name with a strange nickname in front of it.
“How many gray dwarves are there in the Deeplands now? And how many dark elves are there?”
Ken scratched his head and frowned as he thought for a long time: “There are probably several thousand gray dwarves, and the number of cheap skins is less, so they may be more than a thousand?”
Pete couldn’t help but let out a sigh.
This number is much less than he expected!
The Deeplands is such a large place, but the combined population of the gray dwarves and dark elves is only a few thousand?
This is not even as many as the number of members of the Church of Knowledge!
The dwarves in the stone fortress have accumulated a population of tens of thousands in such a small city.
The number of gray dwarves and dark elves is too small. If something unexpected happens, genocide is possible.
“Why are there so few of you?”
Ken picked up the pipe from the ground and took another long drag, then explained nonchalantly:
“Because there’s nothing to eat.”
“There are only a few known safe places in the Deep Region. If you explore other places, you may encounter dangers that you cannot avoid at any time.”
“There are only so many people who can survive. The settlement of Paisi is relatively close to the big elevator, so it’s considered lucky. I heard that the population of the big settlement in Limoen is slowly decreasing.”
“In recent years, these bastards have been trying to get to the surface. They want to go even if they are unwelcome. I heard that life on the surface is much better than this crappy place.”
“There is plenty of meat. Men and women can have as much as they want. They can eat all day long and then sleep with women. After sleeping with women, they can eat again.”
Pete was speechless.
The gray dwarves’ intelligence is indeed not very good. Perhaps in the mind of this guy named “Ken”, the only two things worth mentioning are eating and sleeping with women.
The explanation given by the other party is quite reasonable.
There is a lack of food in the deep areas.
There is no sunlight here, and ordinary crops cannot be grown here, let alone livestock such as sheep, chickens, and ducks.
It is really difficult to survive in a place like this and solve the problem of food.
“What do you usually eat?”
Ken dug into his boxers and pulled out a dark mass from somewhere, similar to what Pete had seen the old gray dwarf chewing on.
“this one.”
“What the hell is this?”
“do not know.”
“Don’t know?” Pete was surprised.
Ken nodded nonchalantly: “What those bastards made is probably some mushrooms or something mashed into a paste, right?”
“Who cares? As long as I can eat it, that’s fine.”
“If we’re lucky, we might be able to find some extra food when the big lift comes every month.”
“If I remember correctly, more than two years ago, there was a human fool who claimed to be a strange adventurer. He walked to the Paisi settlement alone. Later, he asked us to cut him into strips and dry them in the air. We ate them as snacks for several months!”
“That tastes much better than this crap!”
The corners of Pete’s mouth twitched when he heard this.
To be able to describe cannibalism in such a nonchalant way, the moral bottom line of this place, the Deep Region, is really terribly low!
