Chapter 607 21 Ghost
Chapter 607 21. Ghost
“Good morning, Night City—”
The familiar voice of announcer Stanley sounded at 7:50 in the morning, and Carl sat up in bed.
He got up a little earlier than usual today, but according to the agreed time, he was actually almost late.
Karl rubbed his eyes, quickly finished washing up, picked up his phone and took a look, and found that the message had been sent.
“Are you awake, Carl? Do you need us to pick you up?”
This is the message from Andy, captain of the NCPD Special Operations Team.
Since Mr. Johnson took office as the chief, the entire NCPD has undergone tremendous changes. Many corrupt police officers who cannot adapt to the new order and the gang members who collude with them continue to cause trouble.
Due to the re-takeover of Taiping State and the cooperation with the Evil Land Adecardo Family, the NCPD in the city has been understaffed before Chief Johnson recruited new personnel, and it seemed stretched to deal with these troublesome matters. Therefore, Johnson invited Carl and others and formally hired them as assistants to the NCPD.
Out of consideration for their friendship, Carl and his team were included in the list. Today was the day that Carl and Andy had agreed to see the special operations force at work.
Letting mercenaries of Carl’s caliber to handle NCPD work would seem like a waste of talent, even for the elite special operations forces within the NCPD today.
However, Carl and his team haven’t received any big orders recently, and the new member Johnny Silverhand also needs to accumulate experience, so Carl made an appointment for a free time and agreed with Andy that he would bring Johnny Silverhand over, but now it depends on the time… Well, we’re almost late, but if we speed up, we should still make it.
V, Jack and Oliver have already gone to the Badlands, Heywood and St. Domingo respectively, while Johnny Silverhand and Carl have not left yet. However, considering that they and Andy will patrol the city center and Watson District today, the timing is still acceptable.
“We’ll be there soon.”
After replying with a standard “I’ll be there soon, but I haven’t left yet” tone, Carl looked around the room, looking for Johnny Silverhand. Finally, he found Johnny Silverhand sprawled out on the sofa on the first floor, fast asleep. There were also several empty bottles of wine scattered around.
Seeing this scene, Karl’s eyelids twitched slightly.
Let’s not talk about how eye-catching Johnny Silverhand’s standard “dog paralysis” posture is, just the wine alone.
How did V and T-BUG transform him? Although Carl didn’t know much about this, according to Johnny Silverhand’s body size, the amount of liquid in those bottles of wine was enough to fill his body, right?
It’s impossible that V and his team installed an alcohol-burning power furnace in Johnny Silverhand. Considering that the alcohol-2 fuel itself is made from genetically modified wheat, it can also be brewed into a high-alcohol content that can kill people. Maybe V and his team really did that?
But no matter what, it looks terrible.
Carl used to think that Johnny Silverhand’s mechanical body was quite cool, and although it was a bit creepy when transformed, it was still pleasing to the eye overall. But now that Johnny Silverhand has taken over this body and he’s drunk, Carl always has hallucinations – as if he sees a drunken rock and roll youth slumped on the sofa, exuding the smell of alcohol and decadence.
Fortunately, there was no problem with Johnny Silverhand’s efficiency in absorbing the wine, and not a drop of wine was wasted outside, otherwise Carl would have made him clean up the environment he had ruined. Now that he has drunk it all, but the wine bottle is placed in a mess and lying there in a casual posture, it doesn’t seem to be unacceptable, right?
Carl felt that his bottom line towards Johnny Silverhand had inexplicably been lowering as they interacted. After a moment’s thought, he began to wonder if Johnny Silverhand had been indulged in the same way in the past.
Fortunately, Carl is not yet willing to indulge Johnny Silverhand’s temper.
Walking to Johnny Silverhand, who obviously didn’t need to rest but had to adjust his system and behave himself on time, Carl first reached out and pushed the dog that was lying there.
No response.
One kick.
“Cuck!”
A strange sound was heard. Johnny Silverhand, who was confused by the sudden activation of the system, had just regained consciousness when he found himself in mid-air. Then he fell to the carpet next to the sofa with a plop, and fell unconscious. “Good morning, Johnny.”
Hearing Carl’s greeting, Johnny Silvershou subconsciously replied, “Good morning, Carl.”
Then, he suddenly reacted.
“Damn, did you kick me?”
“Nonsense, I kicked it.”
Carl glanced at Johnny Silverhand who got up from the ground. His kick was quite powerful. He said, “Let’s go. It’s time to start your work to pay off your debts. I’m going to watch you work today. Don’t try to slack off.”
“Work to pay off debts? Oh, you guys were talking about helping those NCPD guys today, right? That’s really weird. In the past, I was often stopped by the police and warned not to cause trouble or to stir up fans. But these days, I still have to help them.”
Johnny Silvershou got up, checked the time, and asked casually, “What time is it now? What time did we agree to go there?”
“Seven fifty-seven, can’t you tell the time yourself? The agreed time is eight ten, so there’s still some time.”
“Eight ten, that does mean there’s still some time left. No, isn’t it only thirteen minutes?!”
“Yes.”
Johnny Silverhand was a little dazed when he saw Carl saying this as if it was a matter of course.
Thirteen minutes, they have to go downstairs and rush over, will it be in time? Although Johnny Silverhand was often late for dates with women in the past, he has the impression that as a mercenary, time consciousness should be very important, right?
But looking at Carl’s appearance, he seems very confident.
“are you ready?”
Johnny Silverhand asked, and then got a nod of affirmation from Carl: “Of course, I just checked, Jack and the others drove their own cars, and Hera was parked downstairs.”
“I have a car.”
Johnny Silverhand’s understanding did not last long.
“Car?”
He looked confused as he naturally sat in the passenger seat, then threw himself into the main driver’s seat. He looked at the steering wheel that he couldn’t reach with his hands and feet, and then looked at the front window that he could only see by standing on tiptoe. He hesitated for a moment. Although he felt that the fact was in front of him and there was no need to ask, he still looked at Carl and asked: “I drive?”
“if not?”
Carl, who never drives and always lets the dog take the initiative when he goes out with a dog, naturally reached out and fastened Johnny’s seat belt: “Come on, Bruce. No, Johnny, I believe in you.”
“Damn it, are you really a little crazy?”
