Beijing-Hong Kong Affair
Chapter 14 Persuading Her to Stay
Chapter 14 Persuading Her to Stay
After hearing Ji Hanzhou’s unreliable remarks, Jiang Yunian subconsciously looked outside.
Knowing clearly that this was a one-way glass, Lin Xian had no way of seeing what was going on inside.
On the contrary, he was inside and could see Lin Xian clearly.
Jiang Yunian felt inexplicably guilty, and unconsciously touched his ear, and said to Ji Hanzhou: “Don’t talk nonsense, I just met her.”
After saying that, he walked out without waiting for Ji Hanzhou’s answer.
Ji Hanzhou muttered, “I’ve lost my soul just after we met. What will happen in the future?”
Lin Xian sat on the sofa in the corridor, her back straight and her posture as upright as that of an elementary school student.
When I got closer, I found that her eyes were a little dazed and I didn’t know what she was thinking.
Jiang Yunian sat down next to Lin Xian and spoke gently, “What are you thinking about?”
“Doctor Jiang, I plan to take a flight back to Beijing tonight.”
“So urgent? What happened? Let me see if I can help.”
Lin Xian smiled reluctantly, “I really don’t need to trouble you. This is my school business.”
Jiang Yunian was very smart and almost at that moment he guessed that the two things were related.
If all the problems occur at the same time, it is very likely that someone is tricking you.
Jiang Yunian glanced at Lin Xian calmly and said, “Wait a little longer. School hasn’t started yet anyway. It won’t help if you go back.”
When Lin Xian looked at Jiang Yunian, there was a hint of doubt in her clear eyes, like a hook that could easily hook a person’s soul away.
Jiang Yu coughed twice and looked away. “The weather forecast says that a typhoon will land tomorrow night. It’s best not to wander around for the next two days.”
Lin Xian’s knowledge of typhoons is limited to watching the news.
“Will flights be suspended due to typhoon weather?”
“Depending on the wind speed, it will stop most of the time, so why don’t you take this opportunity to intern with me for a while and feel the atmosphere here?”
Lin Xian originally wanted to refuse, but her stomach growled.
Jiang Yunian’s eyes and eyebrows were full of smiles, “You haven’t had dinner yet?”
Lin Xian lowered her head somewhat embarrassedly, “Well, I forgot about it while shopping.”
“It just so happens that I haven’t eaten yet, so I’ll take you to experience the cafeteria at HKU. You should still be able to eat teppanyaki at this time.”
When she heard that they were going to eat in the cafeteria, Lin Xian felt a lot less stressed.
“Okay, I’ll treat you to a meal.”
Jiang Yunian was distracted for a moment when he saw her curved eyebrows and eyes.
The two of them walked in the moonlight to the restaurant that was still open, and Lin Xian took the initiative to buy beef teppanyaki.
“How come you are so familiar with HKU?” Lin Xian asked curiously.
Jiang Yunian looked at Lin Xian, his eyes focused but not frivolous, “Well, I went to college here and then went abroad to study.”
While waiting for the meal to be served, Jiang Yunian racked his brains to find topics to chat with Lin Xian.
She is not a warm-hearted person, but after getting to know her, you can feel that she is actually a passionate and outgoing person at heart, but her nature has been suppressed for a long time.
“Doctor Jiang, the project that Professor Ji is researching is related to biomedicine, right?”
“Did you see it?”
Lin Xian nodded. “The project I worked on with my supervisor at Peking University was related to medical microbiology, and was mainly focused on isolating pathogenic microorganisms. However, I am still inexperienced and have not yet been able to work on my own.”
Jiang Yunian blurted out without hesitation: “Then you must be very good. If you continue to study at HKU, you will definitely develop better.”
Lin Xian scratched her head a little embarrassedly, “No, it’s mainly because I’m too poor and my tutor feels sorry for me.”
Speaking of this, Lin Xian felt a little sorry for her mentor.
Jiang Yunian found that she suddenly stopped talking, and then he noticed that she lowered her eyes, with a layer of mist in her eyes, and she was in a low mood.
“Peking University and Hong Kong University have a cooperative project. Maybe I know your tutor. What’s his name?”
Lin Xian raised her eyes, her eyelashes trembling, “Really? His name is Li Shanming, and he’s a master’s supervisor.” Jiang Yunian silently memorized the name in his heart and planned to ask someone about it later.
“Yeah, I’ve heard of him. He’s a very good teacher.”
Lin Xian’s eyes sparkled, and she had endless things to say when she mentioned her mentor.
It was not until the meal was served that Lin Xian embarrassedly stopped talking about her mentor and pushed the teppanyaki plate towards Jiang Yunian, accidentally scalding her hand.
Lin Xian subconsciously pinched her earlobe, but Jiang Yunian suddenly grabbed her wrist and said, “Go rinse with cold water, be careful of burns.”
The heat from his palm spread from the wrist, and Lin Xian felt that half of her arm was beginning to burn.
Jiang Yunian took her to the sink with familiarity, turned on the faucet, and concentrated on helping her rinse with cold water. His movements were cautious and not at all seductive.
Lin Xian’s ears turned red.
Except for Chen Ji, she had hardly ever been so close to a member of the opposite sex.
The hand that was exposed to the cold water seemed to be almost numb.
“Does it still hurt?”
Lin Xian shook her head and whispered, “It doesn’t hurt.”
It really doesn’t hurt.
She is not that delicate, so she just needed to perm her earlobes and pinch them.
Such a small thing is not worth mentioning.
But Jiang Yunian didn’t seem to think so. He carefully checked her right hand and handed her the paper towel after confirming that it was no longer red. “Let’s go and eat first.”
“it is good.”
The teppanyaki beef rice was delicious, but Lin Xian was worried and had no appetite.
Jiang Yunian noticed it and pushed the iced lemon tea towards Lin Xian, “No appetite?”
Lin Xian shook her head, “No, I’m just a little worried about the instructor.”
Jiang Yunian subconsciously held the phone, “Don’t worry, maybe he will be lucky. By the way, where are you staying tonight?”
A trace of embarrassment flashed across Lin Xian’s face, and she hesitantly replied, “Let’s go to Tsim Sha Tsui.”
“Have you found it?”
“Well, I found it.”
The moonlight outside the window suddenly disappeared. Dark clouds covered the moon. The layers of clouds above the mountains extended dully to the ground.
Jiang Yunian suddenly wished that the typhoon would come earlier so that he could keep her and have enough time to rescue her.
Lin Xian ate absent-mindedly during the meal, and sometimes she would mishear Jiang Yunian’s questions and answer irrelevantly.
Jiang Yunian took advantage of the break between meals to send a message to Chen, asking him to meet him the next day.
After coming out of the cafeteria, it suddenly started to rain heavily. The two stood in the corridor in silence for several seconds.
Jiang Yunian was the first to speak: “My car is not far away, how about coming with me?”
Lin Xian was about to refuse, but when she met Jiang Yunian’s sincere eyes, the word “rejection” turned into “yes”.
Lin Xian took out her parasol from her schoolbag, opened it and handed it to Jiang Yunian.
Jiang Yunian half-jokingly said, “This umbrella is too small. You hold it. I’m strong and not afraid of getting wet in the rain.”
As he spoke, Jiang Yunian took the lead and walked into the rain. Lin Xian hurriedly followed him and held the umbrella over his head.
Jiang Yunian was nearly 1.9 meters tall, so it wasn’t difficult for Lin Xian to lift the umbrella above his head. However, the umbrella was too small, and there was a distance between them, so both of their bodies were almost exposed to the rain.
Jiang Yunian stopped and took the umbrella from Lin Xian, “Let me hold it.”
Oops, it’s a heart-pounding feeling.
