Chapter 348 Conan: Luckily I learned from my dad in Hawaii
The moonlight was cold and clear; the red sun had long since set in the west.
Patches of clouds obscured the sky, with only streaks of moonlight shining down, creating dappled light and shadow that evoked a sense of the passage of time.
Amidst the tranquil sound of the waves, the entire Moonshadow Island seemed to be draped in a layer of fragmented silver light.
Asai Narumi and Ran walked side by side.
Two silent and shy police officers followed behind him, who seemed to have just taken up their posts.
The two of them each grabbed one of Nishimoto Ken's arms and silently followed behind the two girls.
The sea breeze carried a faint, salty smell, and Asai Narumi's expression appeared serene and at peace.
As they walked toward the clinic, Asai Narumi appeared more relaxed than usual.
Just by chance, he caught a glimpse of the moonlight on the horizon, half-hidden by dark clouds, and his tone carried a hint of barely perceptible sigh and sadness.
"If hell really exists, people like me would probably go there after they die."
"Huh??"
Because so many people were with her, Xiaolan wasn't so scared anymore, and she even had the mood to look at the sea view at night.
She was strolling leisurely when Asai Narumi's sudden remark startled her, but she immediately shook her head, disagreeing with her point of view.
"How is that possible? You're a doctor!"
Seeing that Asai Narumi's expression seemed slightly sad, Ran didn't understand what had happened, but she still smiled and poked the other's waist, causing the latter to quickly dodge.
"Hehe~ Why are you suddenly saying this? I remember Dr. Asai, you mentioned before that you used to work at a large hospital in Tokyo, and then you specifically applied to work here occasionally. I know that doing this must have required giving up a lot of things, after all, it was a large hospital!"
Upon hearing Ran's question, Asai Narumi nodded gently: "That's right..."
"??(???*) That's right!" Xiaolan smiled even more happily.
"You gave up so much to come to this remote island to volunteer, you must be a kind-hearted person!"
And you must have saved a lot of people when you were in Tokyo, right? Because of that, if there really is a heaven and a hell, Dr. Asai, you must be going to heaven!
Xiaolan's voice always seemed to carry a positive and uplifting tone.
Even the two detectives following behind them exchanged a smile.
However, Asai Shigemi became even more silent after hearing her words.
He forced a smile: "Perhaps."
"He's here to kill people, he's here to kill people, he's going to kill us all..." Ken Nishimoto was being held up by two detectives, still muttering something.
However, none of the people present paid him any attention, except for Asai Narumi, who slightly turned her head and glanced at him.
"Huh? It's a little sparrow! It seems to like you." Suddenly, Ran saw a small sparrow fly in front of them and circle around Asai Narumi twice.
"0.o?" Asai Narumi was taken aback and involuntarily raised his arm.
The sparrow seemed to possess a spirit, gently flapping its wings before landing on Asai Narumi's fingertips.
"Haha, Dr. Asai, I told you so, even the little animals can sense that you are actually a very gentle person!" Ran chuckled.
"Maybe so." Asai Narumi didn't chase the sparrow away; instead, she let it hop and jump around on her hand.
Feeling the touch on his skin, he didn't know why, but it seemed as if he could really sense the little sparrow's feelings.
"Let's go quickly."
The five people and one bird thus arrived at the island's medical clinic.
The nurse on duty has changed.
Asai Narumi greeted her and asked her to arrange Nishimoto Ken's hospital room before preparing to return to his examination room.
"Aren't you leaving yet, little guy?" Asai Narumi couldn't help but chuckle as the sparrow in her hand showed no sign of leaving. "Do you expect me to take care of you? I probably can't do that anymore. You'd better leave, get away from this place."
With a gentle flick of his wrist, Asai Narumi tossed the little sparrow into the air.
Watching it fly away freely, he then turned and went into the hospital.
He finished packing his things, his fingertips brushing against the white coat on the hanger, but he didn't take it down immediately.
It seemed like he was hesitating about something.
However, it only took a moment for him to come to his senses, and he took off his medical robe and put it on.
At the same time, the two detectives, holding Nishimoto Ken down, followed the nurse to a ward and locked him inside.
Asai Narumi walked over, looking fully armed.
"Thank you for your help, Dr. Asai." One of the detectives said to Asai Narumi with a shy smile.
"It's what I should do." Asai Narumi shook her head and went inside with a plate full of various medicines.
After the door closed, Ran tilted her head in surprise and muttered, "Is Mr. Nishimoto Ken very ill? He needs so much medicine..."
The two detectives exchanged another glance, also somewhat puzzled, but they didn't think much of it and obediently stood outside the ward, acting as guards.
However, Asai Narumi did not stay in the ward for long and came out after a while.
"How is it? Is there a problem?" Xiaolan didn't expect Asai Narumi to come out so quickly, and thought something had happened.

The two policemen also quickly looked over.
"No, not at all. I gave Mr. Nishimoto a sedative injection and some medication. He's much better now."
Asai Narumi waved his hand, and seeing that the detective seemed to want to go in and take a look, he quickly interrupted, "Please wait outside for a while. Mr. Nishimoto Ken is already asleep. Let him rest here for a bit. In about thirty or forty minutes, the effects of the drug should be almost gone. Then you can take him away without too much trouble."
"Let him get some rest so he can better cooperate with Inspector Megure's questioning."
After hearing what Asai Narumi said, the two detectives thought for a moment and then agreed.
They nodded and thanked Asai Narumi, saying, "Thank you for your help this time. We didn't bring too many medicines with us. What medicines have you been using? I'll ask our boss to reimburse you for them later."
"No need to be so polite." Asai Narumi waved his hand quickly when he heard them say that. "After all, just like Ran said, I am a doctor! There's not much waste in these medicines, and I can get reimbursed directly on the island, so I won't trouble you."
Asai Narumi then changed the subject, "It's you two who came with us, and you even helped Mr. Nishimoto Ken, who kept fidgeting, the whole way. You must have been very kind of you. With you here, Ran and I felt much more at ease!"
After being praised like that by Asai Narumi.
The two newly appointed detectives blushed immediately, scratched the back of their heads, and burst into laughter: "No, no, you flatter me..."
"I bet you're all hungry too, right?" Asai Narumi looked at Ran. "There's probably nowhere to buy food right now, but I have a lot of food in my office. You can take some and Ran can take the rest back."
"Oh, this isn't a good idea..." Xiaolan blinked.
She wanted to refuse, but she couldn't resist Asai Narumi's insistence, so she had no choice but to take it.
"You should remember the way, go that way, then turn that way." Asai Narumi pointed out the way to Ran.
Only after she could no longer see her back did Asai Narumi turn around.
"Thank you so much, doctor. We are indeed a bit hungry." One of the detectives scratched his head shyly.
"You're welcome." Asai Narumi paused, then asked casually, "Officers, may I go home for a bit? I'd like to change my clothes and take a shower. With all these incidents these past few days, I haven't changed my clothes, and after being in contact with corpses, they still smell..."
He blinked his big eyes at the two detectives: "It's nearby, not far."
"Of course you can, but are you sure you can manage alone? Or should one of us come with you?"
"No need, no need. My house is right next door. It's inconvenient for you to come up with me, and it's not appropriate for you to wait downstairs. I'll just go and come back quickly myself." Asai Narumi waved his hand immediately.
"That's true... alright then." The two detectives nodded. "Please be careful, and if anything happens, just shout, and we'll be there immediately."
Asai Narumi returned a sweet smile and gave a slight bow.
Thank you.
------
Just after Asai Narumi left the clinic.
On Conan's side.
He finally followed the old policeman to the warehouse of the community center.
The door was indeed successfully opened with the key.
However, they searched for a long time but couldn't find what they were looking for.
"Where is it?" Conan squatted on the ground, fiddling with the small box in front of him for a long time. After confirming that it wasn't there, he couldn't help but stand up.
He looked at the elderly policeman who was still slowly searching and couldn't help but feel speechless.
However, he held back for a moment, then forced a smile: "Officer, where exactly is that sheet music you mentioned? It's so well hidden! Could it be lost?"
"(′-ι_-`) Sigh... cough cough!"
The veteran policeman sighed, "It is indeed a long time ago. After all, these are things from more than ten years ago. With so much time, a lot of new items have accumulated, so it is indeed not easy to find them."
He waved his hand, trying to disperse the dust that was rising in front of him.
The things stored here are usually useless items; everyone just stuffs them in, and almost no one comes to the warehouse to look for anything.
This has led to a lot of dust accumulating inside.
They move around and pat things, and a room full of dust floats up.
"We should have brought the forensic officers along. With them, they'd definitely be able to find things much faster than we are," Conan sighed.
Although he was very sensitive to various clues at the crime scene and could easily detect their existence.
However, this warehouse is filled with junk that has accumulated on the island over the years.
This is no longer about finding clues, but about a hard search.
In this respect, Conan admits that he is not as good as the professionals.
"There's nothing we can do about it. We didn't send too many criminal police officers to begin with, and the forensic team is naturally focused on investigating and collecting evidence at the crime scene. Even if we apply now, it's probably difficult to arrange anything."
The veteran policeman shook his head: "Even if we manage to get the person here, by the time it takes for them to come and go, we might have already found them."
"That's true." Conan sighed again.
He and the old policeman each took one end of the search and continued their search.
"????Um?"
After searching for a while, the old policeman suddenly noticed a stack of papers at his feet.
He bent down, picked it up, patted off the dust, and started flipping through it one by one.
Suddenly, he exclaimed, "Oh dear, so that's where it is! It was piled up with the other materials! Cough cough!"
The old policeman pulled a few sheets from the stack of papers, then turned around and said to Conan behind him, "These are the sheet music we found in the safe at Keiji Aso's house twelve years ago. We need to hurry back..."
He had just raised his hand and hadn't even finished speaking when a figure suddenly darted in front of him and snatched the sheet music from his hand.
"Let me take a look first!"
Conan jumped up and grabbed the sheet music.
"Cough cough!" Conan fanned the dust in front of his eyes.
He squinted at the sheet music in his hand.
However, the moment he saw the sheet music, he froze on the spot.
"This is……"
This is written to my son, Chengshi.
"°?°Chengshi?"
Conan frowned, and the first thing that came to mind was the doctor they had visited on this island.
Is this a coincidence?
When Conan regained consciousness.
He would involuntarily begin to think about a possibility he had never considered before.
Many clues that he didn't know how to arrange, or that he had overlooked or ignored, that seemed somewhat inexplicable, miraculously pieced together a very reasonable answer because of his guess.
"That Dr. Asai is the murderer?!" Conan's eyes widened.
He attempted to incorporate the parts of the case that he couldn't understand into this hypothesis.
However, he discovered that there were many methods used in the crimes, and he still couldn't figure out a reasonable answer.
However, now that he has found the real culprit, he only needs to obtain the details of the crime by subtly probing and psychologically inducing the suspect after capturing him.
Anyway, he learned from his dad when he was in Hawaii how to ask questions in a way that would make the other person say the answer they wanted without them even realizing it.
"call"
After two days of continuous running around, Conan finally let out a sigh of relief.
"It seems this is the truth; this sheet music is the crucial evidence that connects all the clues!"
